Whitehorse — Yukon RCMP arrest male for firearm offences, execute search warrant

On June 20, 2024, Ross River RCMP received a report of several firearm related incidents that had occurred over the past several months at the Drury Creek highway camp located between Carmacks and Faro. The investigation was conducted by Ross River RCMP with the assistance of the Yukon Crime Reduction Unit.

During the evening of Friday, June 28, 2024, officers in Yukon RCMP’s Critical Incident Program, arrested a 42-year-old male for several firearm offences near the junction of the Takhini Hotsprings Road and North Klondike Highway.

Following the arrest, members of the Yukon Crime Reduction Unit and Major Crime Unit executed search warrants at a residence.

Adam Kyle Simpson MORRISON (42) of Whitehorse is charged with the following offences:

• Possess Loaded Prohibited Firearm without authorization x 2

• Pointing a Firearm

• Possess Prohibited Device (multiple counts)

• Unsafe Storage of a Loaded Handgun x 2

• Unauthorized Possession of a Non-Restricted Firearm (multiple counts)

Mr. Morrison appeared in Court on June 29, 2024 at 10:00 am where he was remanded into custody until the following day. He appeared on June 30, 2024 at 10:00 am and was released on a Release Order to abide by several conditions. Morrison’s next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at 9:30 am.
