A thirty-year-old man died on Saturday, June 22, 2024, after going under water at a swimming hole on Ballfield Road in Dildo.
Whitbourne RCMP responded to a report just after 3:30 p.m. that a man had not resurfaced after going under the water. The local fire department and Emergency Medical Services also responded. A RCMP constable and firefighters entered the water and located the man shortly after. Paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.
Witnesses reported that the deceased man went under the water after helping a young child get to shore safely.
