June 6, 2024, Kelvin Grove – RCMP have arrested a 30-year-old man in Kelvin Grove after he smashed into police cars with a stolen truck.
At just after 5:00 a.m. on June 6, 2024, East Prince RCMP were called to a parking lot on the Blue Shank Road to respond to a suspicious person complaint. Police located a Nova Scotia man sleeping in a ¾ ton pick up truck. RCMP identified the truck as stolen from Cumberland Nova Scotia, they set up spike belts and positioned their police cars to block the truck. In attempts to arrest the man, police deployed a conducted energy weapon. The man smashed the truck into the police cars damaging two RCMP SUVs and passed over the spike belts resulting in the deflation of the truck tires. He fled the scene in the truck and it was located a short distance away in some trees behind a residence. RCMP Police Dog Service attended the scene and was used to locate and assist in the arrest of the accused. As a result of his actions the accused was bitten by the police dog while being arrested. Police are investigating items located in the truck that are believed to be stolen.
The accused is anticipated in court later today to answer to many charges in connection to this incident.
