Bay Roberts — Bay Roberts RCMP investigates after hours commercial structure fire at Dwyer Building, seeks public’s assistance

Bay Roberts RCMP is investigating a commercial fire that occurred during the early morning hours of today, May 31, 2024, at the Dwyer Building on the Conception Bay Highway in Bay Roberts. A number of businesses were damaged.

At approximately 2:15 a.m., police received a report of the fire and attended the scene. Firefighters from Bay Roberts, Spaniard’s Bay and Port de Grave responded and extinguished the blaze which caused significant damages to the business located inside the building. These businesses include the Academy for Math and English, Ches’s Fish and Chips and Peka Sales and Services.

The scene is being held as part of the investigation. A Fire Scene Investigator with the Fire Services Division of Justice and Public Safety attends the scene today to continue with the investigation.
