May 29, 2024, Hazelbrook PE – On May 23, Queens District RCMP were alerted to an incident involving a firearm that had occurred in Hazelbrook earlier that day. Police learned that a 40-year-old Hazelbrook man had pointed a firearm at another man, uttered threats, damaged a vehicle using a knife and committed an assault.

40-year-old Brian Martin Gallant was arrested that day, and released on ankle monitoring. Police also executed a search in connection to this investigation seizing a pellet gun, two inoperable shotguns, and ammunition. Gallant has been charged with pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm and assault. He will appear in court June 17, 2024 at 1:00p.m. in Charlottetown Provincial Court.

The two men were known to each other and this incident did not appear to be a threat to the larger PEI population. In this case the firearm was determined to be a pellet gun.
