The FBI Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force and the Denver Police Department need the public’s help identifying an individual who has robbed four banks in May. The suspect is being dubbed the “BYOB Bandit” because he brings a different bag to each robbery.
The suspect is believed to be responsible for these Denver bank robberies:
- Wednesday, May 1, at approximately 3:10 p.m., Chase Bank, 6160 E. Colfax Ave.
- Wednesday, May 8, at approximately 3:50 p.m., UMB Bank, 3515 N. Quebec St.
- Friday, May 17, at approximately 3:40 p.m., Chase Bank, 6160 E. Colfax Ave.
- Wednesday, May 22, at approximately 12:40 p.m., UMB Bank, 1635 E. Colfax Ave.
The suspect is described as a Black male, 5’9”—6’00” tall, medium build, 40-55 years old, and a gray beard/facial hair.
Please be on the lookout for anyone matching the above descriptions. Be aware of anyone similar who might have recently changed their spending habits or discussed coming into money suddenly.
Bank robbery is punishable by up to 20 years in prison for each federal offense, and sentences can increase if a dangerous weapon is used in the commission of the crime. The FBI continues to provide financial institutions with best practices for security to make them less vulnerable to robberies.
