Gypsumville — Gypsumville RCMP investigate shooting

On April 18, 2024, at approximately 8:05 pm, Gypsumville RCMP responded to a shooting at a business in Lake St. Martin First Nation.

Immediately officers and Emergency Medical Services responded and located an injured 34-year-old male. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

RCMP identified a suspect and he was arrested.

Memphis Beardy, 20, has been charged with:

• Discharge Firearm with Intent
• Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
• Possession of Firearm knowing Possession is Unauthorized
• Disguised with Intent to Commit Offence
• Possession of Restricted Firearm with Ammo Without Licence
• Pointing a Firearm
• Possession of Firearm/Ammunition in Motor Vehicle
• Fail to Comply with Probation Order
• Careless Use of Firearm
• Weapon Possession contrary to order x2
• Aggravated Assault
• Using Firearm in the Commission of an Offence

Gypsumville RCMP continue to investigate.
