On Sept. 8, 2023, Stoney Nakoda RCMP responded to a disturbance on Stoney Nakoda Nation. Upon arrival, Donald Nepoose (55), a resident of Stoney Nakoda, was located deceased. The manner of death was deemed to be a homicide.
After a thorough investigation, on March 1, 2024, a 48-year-old individual, a resident of Stoney Nakoda, was arrested and has been charged with second-degree murder.
After a judicial interim release hearing, the individual was remanded into custody and will be appearing in Alberta Court of Justice in Cochrane, Alta., on March 5, 2024.
