On March 1, 2024, at approximately 7:35 pm, Emerson RCMP received a call of a deceased male inside a residence on 2nd Street in Emerson, Manitoba. Officers attended and located a 48-year-old male from the community deceased as a result of homicide. The deceased was the resident of the home.
RCMP Major Crime Services investigators attended to Emerson. Investigation quickly determined this was an isolated incident and there was no risk to public safety. The victim and the suspect were known to each other.
On March 3, 2024, Ryan Wiens, 28, of Steinbach was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder. He was remanded in custody with a court appearance on March 4, 2024.
