A Carbonear woman is being investigated for impaired driving after RCMP received a tip from the public this weekend.

Just after 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2024, Harbour Grace RCMP received the report of a possible impaired driver. An employee at a fast-food restaurant reported a driver who had come through the drive-thru showing signs of impairment. Police were able to locate the described vehicle a short while later, running and parked in a nearby parking lot.

The driver was not conscious when police approached the vehicle. She was woken up by police and exhibited signs of intoxication. The driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and was also noted to be driving with an expired license.

The driver was transported to Carbonear General Hospital where blood samples were obtained. The investigation is continuing to determine if charges of impaired driving are appropriate.

RCMP NL thanks the public for their continued support and cooperation in reporting impaired drivers.
