Fort Simpson — Northwest Territories Major Crime Unit lays charges after sudden death in Fort Simpson

On January 19th, 2024, the Fort Simpson RCMP received a call after a woman was found deceased in a residence. The Fort Simpson RCMP and the Office of the Chief Coroner of the Northwest Territories responded and conducted a joint initial investigation into the woman’s passing. After a medical examination, it was determined that the woman’s death was the result of a homicide and the Northwest Territories RCMP’s Major Crime Unit took over the investigation.

Alison Sanguez (27) of Jean Marie River, NT, has been arrested and charged with manslaughter in connection with this incident. Sanguez was remanded into custody with a court appearance set for February 14th, 2024 in Yellowknife.
