Portage la Prairie — Portage la Prairie RCMP disturbance report leads to seizure of Meth and Fentanyl

On January 23, 2024, at 8:20 pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence located on 5th Avenue NE.

Officers attended and were advised that a 31-year-old female, from Winnipeg, had been assaulted by a 53-year-old male, from Portage la Prairie, who was then subsequently assaulted by a 37-year-old male, from the RM of Portage la Prarie. No injuries were reported.

The 37-year-old was placed under arrest and upon his search, officers located a filleting knife tucked into his boot. The 53-year-old was placed under arrest and upon his search, officers located a small quantity of drugs believed to be methamphetamine and fentanyl.

As a result of this investigation, officers with the Portage la Prairie RCMP General Investigative Section (GIS), along with officers from the Portage Detachment, executed a search warrant at this residence and seized an addtional quantity of methamphetamine, fentanyl, several weapons and drug related paraphernalia.

37-year-old Rambo Roulette was remanded into custody on charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose.

53-year-old Jeremy Whincup was remanded into custody on charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x2, Weapons Possession Contrary to Order x3, Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon x2 and Assault on a Police Officer.

Portage la Prairie RCMP continue to investigate.
