On December 24th, 2023, at approximately 1:05 am, Thompson RCMP were called to a home invasion at a residence on Elm Street.
Upon arrival, officers entered the home and found obvious signs of a struggle and blood throughout but no residents. Shortly afterwards, they encountered a 35-year-old male who was returning to the home. The male, who was walking, was suffering from multiple stab wounds. Officers provided first-aid and he was immediately taken to hospital by paramedics in critical condition with serious injuries.
The investigation has determined that the male victim was at the residence along with the female homeowner and six children when a group of males forced their way inside. The male victim was assaulted and stabbed as he was attempting to get the children to another room for safety. Following the attack, he walked the children to a nearby residence before returning to the Elm Street home where he met officers.
Police are looking for approximately four or five males, possibly youths or young adults who were dressed in all dark clothing, and wearing masks. It is believed they were driving a black pick-up truck.
At this time police believe that the house was specifically targeted.
