Moncton — Missing 7-year-old boy

The Codiac Regional RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance to help locate a missing 7-year-old boy.

Andres Fernando Barbosa Rincon was last seen on December 20, 2023 at a hotel on Main Street in Moncton. At approximately 2:15 p.m., he was taken from the hotel, without consent, by his mother 31-year-old Raquel Rincon Ruiz. Police and Andres’ family are concerned for his wellbeing.

Raquel Rincon Ruiz is described as being approximately 5 feet tall (152 centimeters), and weighing approximately 120 pounds (54 kilograms), with black hair and brown eyes. She speaks Spanish, and advised that her intention was to travel to the United States with Andres. No vehicle or clothing description is available at this time.

Andres Fernando Barbosa Rincon is described as being approximately 4 feet tall (122 centimeters) tall, and weighing approximately 70 pounds (31 kilograms). He has black hair and brown eyes. He has a mole on the right side of his chin and another between his eyes. No clothing description is available at this time. He speaks Spanish and limited French.

At this time, the incident does not meet the criteria to issue an AMBER Alert message. An AMBER Alert message will be issued should there be a need.
