Fort Resolution — Fort Resolution RCMP seize drugs and firearm during drug trafficking investigation

On December 13th, 2023 the Fort Resolution RCMP began an investigation into drug trafficking in the Hamlet of Fort Resolution. As a result of this investigation the RCMP arrested 24-year-old Leron Andrew John of Edmonton, Alberta and recovered 158 grams of suspected cocaine, $4080 cash, a long gun and a prohibited weapon in the form of brass knuckles.

John is also charged in relation to an assault and pointing a firearm incident that took place in Fort Resolution on October 16th, 2023. On that date RCMP in for Resolution were told that a man was being held at gun point at a residence in Fort Resolution. RCMP responded to the residence and found that the suspect had fled and that the victim had been assaulted but was not seriously injured.

John, remains in custody and faces the following charges:

  • For the December 13th, 2023, incident:
    • Trafficking a Controlled Substance;
    • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of Trafficking;
    • Possession of a weapon;
    • Possession of the proceeds of crime;
  • For the October 16th, 2023 incident:
    • Unauthorized possession of a firearm;
    • Uttering threats
