Fort McMurray — Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit Investigates homicide in Fort McKay

On Dec. 5, 2023, at approximately 3 a.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP received a report of a firearms complaint to Target Road in Fort McKay.

Upon arrival, RCMP located a 60-year-old Fort McKay resident with life-threatening inquires. A short time later, the male succumbed to his injuries. RCMP are treating the death as a homicide, and The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has been deployed and has taken over the investigation.

A second individual was reported to have injuries, which were unrelated to this incident. There is no information to suggest there is a risk to the general public at this time.

RCMP continue the search for 21-year-old Anton Grandjambe.
