Carleton County  — 46-year-old man charged following firearm incident

A 46-year-old man from Lakeville, N.B., has been charged following a firearm incident in the community.

On November 26, 2023, members of the Western Valley Region RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in Lakeville. A had been asked to leave a residence, and broke several items inside before leaving the home. A short time later, he returned to the home and stole a firearm, which he pointed at another individual in the home before taking off into the woods.

Police, along with RCMP Police Dog Services (PDS), attended and secured the scene. The man was located a short time later by PDS outside of a convenience store in the area, and was arrested without incident.

At the time, the incident did not meet the criteria for an Alert Ready message, however, residents in the area were asked to shelter in place. The New Brunswick RCMP is always prepared to issue an Alert Ready message should there be a need.

On November 27, Timothy Davenport appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court via tele-remand, and was charged with possession of a weapon contrary to an order. He was remanded into custody.

On November 29, Timothy Davenport appeared in Woodstock Provincial Court, and the following additional charges were laid:

  • Two counts of possession of a firearm / ammunition contrary to a court order
  • Two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm/ammunition knowing possession is unauthorized
  • Discharging a firearm while being reckless
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon with ammunition without a licence
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Theft under $5,000
  • Mischief under $5,000
  • Resisting a peace officer

He was remanded into custody, and is scheduled to return to court on December 19 at 9:30 a.m.
