Blacks Harbour — 15-year-old youth arrested following assault with weapon

A 15-year-old youth has been arrested following an assault with a weapon in Blacks Harbour, N.B.

On November 17, 2023, at approximately 9:15 p.m., members of the St. George RCMP detachment responded to a report of an assault with a weapon outside of a hockey rink in Blacks Harbour. Two youths who were attending a high school hockey game had reportedly gotten into an altercation, and one of the youths stuck the other in the head with a hockey stick a number of times. The youth then fled the scene before police arrived.

The victim was transported to hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Later the same evening, a 15-year-old youth was arrested at a residence in St. George. The youth was later released, and is scheduled to appear in Saint John Provincial Youth Court at a later date.
