Rivière-Verte — 82-year-old woman dies following single-vehicle collision involving pedestrian

An 82-year-old woman from Rivière-Verte, N.B., has died following a single-vehicle collision with a pedestrian in the community.

On November 16, 2023, at approximately1:40 p.m., members of the Saint-Léonard RCMP detachment responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Route 144, near the intersection of Davis Road, in Rivière-Verte. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The pedestrian was also transported to hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries.

The collision is believed to have occurred when the vehicle, travelling westbound, collided with the pedestrian who was crossing the southbound intersection.

Members of the Rivière-Verte Fire Department, Ambulance New Brunswick, and Justice and Public Safety also attended the scene. A member of the New Brunswick Coroner’s office and an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
