A 45-year-old Stratford man was arrested on October 17, 2023 by Queens District RCMP after fleeing in his vehicle from both Charlottetown Police Services and an RCMP traffic stop.

Just after 4:00 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2023 PEI RCMP received a “Be On The Lookout” message from Charlottetown Police Services for a dark red, Ford Ranger pickup truck with a lone male driver that fled from Charlottetown Police officers. RCMP Members set up a traffic stop in the Hunter River area, located the vehicle but it again fled from police. RCMP later located the vehicle, identified the driver and arrested the man. Police found drugs as well as a prohibited weapon in the vehicle. Charges are pending and the incident is still under investigation.

“Collaboration among police agencies is not just a strategy, but a key part of our success. In this case, thanks to our united efforts and effective cooperation, an individual who twice eluded police, was apprehended,” says PEI RCMP Acting Commanding Officer, Superintendent Kevin Lewis. “It’s a good demonstration of how well partnerships in policing can work across all communities in Prince Edward Island,” adds Lewis.
