Fredericton — 64-year-old man charged in connection with child pornography investigation

A 64-year-old man from Fredericton, N.B., has been charged in connection with an investigation into child pornography offences.

The New Brunswick RCMP’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit began their investigation in February 2023, following information received from the RCMP’s National Child Exploitation Crime Centre (NCECC).

On May 3, 2023, members of the RCMP ICE Unit, RCMP Digital Forensic Services and the Fredericton Police Force, executed a search warrant at a home in Fredericton in connection with the investigation. A 64-year-old man was arrested at the scene, and was later released.

On October 16, charges of possession of child pornography, and accessing child pornography were laid against Donald MacPherson in Fredericton Provincial Court.

Donald MacPherson appeared in court on October 17. He was released from custody, and is scheduled to return to court at a later date.

The New Brunswick RCMP’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit includes members from the Saint John Police Force and the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force. The RCMP’s Digital Forensic Services Unit, the Fredericton Police Force and the RCMP National Child Exploitation Crime Centre were also involved in this investigation.
