Moores Mills — Updated Alert Ready, RCMP still searching for suspect

The New Brunswick RCMP has updated the Alert Ready for the Moores Mills area, but police are still searching for a 26-year-old man in connection with the incident.

On October 11, 2023, at approximately 9:41 a.m., the New Brunswick RCMP issued an Alert Ready message to advise residents of Moores Mills and surrounding areas to remain inside with doors locked, and others to avoid the area, while police searched for a man who was believed to be armed and dangerous.

At 4:37 p.m. the same day, an updated Alert Ready message was issued advising that residents in the area may now exit their homes and resume their normal activities. Police are continuing to search for 26-year-old Kody Hiltz, who is evading police, and is believed to be carrying a firearm with dangerous intent in the area. He was last seen travelling on foot, in the area of Highway 750 in Moores Mills.

Police are encouraging residents to remain vigilant, and to report any sightings of Kody Hiltz. There will be an increased police presence in the area as police continue their search.
