Today, 32 candidates graduated from the inaugural session of the Diverse and Inclusive Pre-Cadet Experience (DICE) at the RCMP Academy (Depot Division).
Candidates arrived to the RCMP Academy from across the country to take part in this three-week program. This is a new RCMP recruitment and retention initiative focused on removing systemic barriers that impact racialized and underrepresented persons who aspire to join the RCMP.
The DICE candidates represent over 12 countries including Pakistan, India, Brazil, Columbia, Uganda, Bahamas, China, Philippines, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Bolivia and Haiti.
Throughout their training, participants learned about various RCMP career specializations and cultural diversity. They studied policing techniques and met RCMP members who represent diverse communities. These mentors bring with them a combined experience of Federal Policing, General Duty Policing and Protective Operations.
Much like cadets enrolled in the Cadet Training Program, the DICE troop lives in dorms, dines in the mess, and upon completion of the program, they take part in a graduation ceremony. Following their graduation, they will also be the lead troop during the Sergeant Major’s parade.
Once candidates have completed the program there is ongoing support and guidance if they choose to continue through the RCMP’s police officer application process.

Media invitation
Members of the media are invited to attend the Sergeant Major’s Parade on Friday, October 6, 2023. There will be a media availability for interviews following the parade. Media must arrive at the Fort Dufferin Guard Room no later than 12:30 PM. Late parties will not be accommodated.
All members of the media will be required to leave a piece of government-issued photo ID in order to receive a visitor’s pass. Visitors must be accompanied at all times while at the RCMP Academy.
There are no in and out privileges, attending media is asked to stay for the duration of the event.
