Bay Roberts — Bay Roberts man charged with assaulting a police officer during arrest

Forty-one-year-old Donald King of Bay Roberts has been charged after assaulting a police officer. The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. this morning, October 4, 2023, when Bay Roberts RCMP attended a residence to arrest him based on an outstanding arrest warrant in relation to charges of theft, failure to comply with release order, aggravated assault, breaking and entering, robbery and possession of a weapon.

When advised of his arrest, King assaulted a police officer and fled the residence through a window. Officers arrested King at a neighbouring property and he was taken into custody.

He appeared in court today to face charges of Assaulting a Police Officer and Failing to Comply with a Release Order condition. He will appear in court again later this week.
