On September 30, 2023, at approximately 1:25 pm, Thompson RCMP received a report that a 41-year-old female from Tataskweyak Cree Nation was missing and was last seen September 27, 2023. It was determined that the female had been shopping in Thompson, got a ride back towards Tataskweyak Cree Nation, and was dropped off approximately one kilometre outside the community to walk home through the woods.
RCMP conducted patrols both in Thompson and in the area where investigators had been told the female was dropped off.
On October 1, 2023, officers and community members conducted searches in the wooded area surrounding the community. Community searchers located the female deceased in the woods.
An autopsy is being conducted.
The investigation continues.
