Two 15-year-old youths and a 20-year-old man have been arrested in connection with a theft of vehicle and collision with a school bus in Weldon, N.B.
On September 26, 2023, at approximately 7 a.m., members of the Caledonia Region RCMP responded to a collision between a vehicle and school bus on Route 114 in Weldon. When police arrived on scene, three individuals who had been in the vehicle, had already fled the scene. Police identified the vehicle as having been reported stolen earlier that morning from Moncton, N.B. The three individuals were quickly located by police and the RCMP Police Dog Services Unit and were arrested without incident near the scene. Police seized firearm parts and ammunition from the stolen vehicle. Members from Ambulance New Brunswick, the Hillsborough Fire department and an RCMP collision reconstructionist also attended the scene.
No injuries were reported.
A 15-year-old youth was later released and is scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on November 7, 2023.
On September 26, 20-year-old Ryan Linfield from Moncton appeared by telephone remand in Moncton Provincial Court and was charged with possession of property obtained by crime and was released from custody. He is scheduled to appear in Moncton Provincial Court on November 7, 2023.
On September 28, a 15-year-old youth, who cannot be identified as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act, appeared in Moncton Provincial Court was charged with possession of property obtained by crime and failure to comply with a release order. He was released from custody on a released order and is scheduled to return to court on October 4, 2023.
The investigation is ongoing.
