On September 18th, 2023, shortly after 6 p.m., the Yellowknife RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of a single motor vehicle collision on the Ingraham Trail near Madeline Lake. RCMP officers were advised that the vehicle had left the roadway and that one of the occupants was trapped inside. RCMP and the Yellowknife Fire Division attended the scene and determined that there had been three occupants in the vehicle at the time of the collision. All three of the occupants suffered injuries in the collision that were not considered to be life threatening but all three occupants were transported to the hospital. RCMP later learned that one occupant was reported to have serious and potentially life altering injuries as a result of the collision.
This collision is still under investigation and alcohol and distracted driving are suspected to be factors.
