The New Brunswick RCMP, in collaboration with the New Brunswick Department of Justice and Public Safety, conducted recent traffic enforcement in the Saint-Quentin, Kedgwick, Campbellton and Dalhousie regions, resulting in 24 vehicles being towed and 48 traffic violations being issued.
The operation was conducted on September 14 and 15, 2023, by members of the RCMP’s Tactical Traffic Enforcement Unit (TTEU), and members of the Northeast District RCMP, in collaboration with officers and motor vehicle inspectors from the Highway Safety Enforcement Branch of the Department of Justice and Public Safety. The operation focused on unsafe and modified vehicles as well as distracted driving and proper use of seatbelts.
During the operation, 95 vehicles were escorted to a specific site to be assessed, 22 of which were deemed unsafe and towed at the owner’s expense. Additionally, 17 modified vehicles were given a notice for an engineer inspection. A total of 48 traffic violations were also issued under the New Brunswick Motor Vehicle Act, and with the assistance of the RCMP Provincial Crime Reduction Unit, two people were issued a court date for possession for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
The RCMP’s TTEU conducts regular, targeted traffic enforcement on roadways throughout the province with the goals of improving road safety, educating motorists about traffic laws, and to reduce serious injury and fatal collisions.
