Officers were called by the London Ambulance Service at approximately 02:15hrs on Saturday, 17 February to reports of a man unconscious on Greenwich High Road, SE10.

The victim had sustained serious head injuries as a result of being beaten by a number of men, some reported to be using blunt objects.

The victim was taken by LAS to a south London hospital in a critical condition; he died on Friday, 23 February.

He has been named as 30-year-old Jozef Boci, who was originally from Albania, but was living in Catford.

His next of kin have been informed.

A post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course.

The assault took place in the street, but it is believed it followed an argument between two groups of men in a nearby pub.
