Two men arrested in latest phase of Operation Sceptre

Officers from the Met and City of London Police arrested two men on Wednesday, 14 February as a result of the Met’s crack down on knife crime Operation Sceptre.

A 45-year-old man was arrested after a search warrant was executed at an address on Camden Park Road in Camden for importation of offensive weapons, firearms offences, possession of offensive weapons and possession of Class C drugs. He has been taken to a north London police station.

A number of weapons were seized from the property, including: a number of prohibited knives, a knuckle duster, multiple adapted firearms and a crossbow.
A 23-year-old man was arrested following a search warrant executed at an address on Rotherfield Street in Islington.

He was arrested for breach of a court order, and has since been further arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods, money laundering and possession with intent to supply a Class B drug. He was also taken to a north London police station.

The following items were seized from the Rotherfield Street address:

– Ten mobile phones, suspected of having been stolen by means of moped-enabled robbery;
– Two bundles of cash, amounting to approximately £1,500;
– 24 bags of cannabis;
– A number of mobile phones suspected to have been used in the commission of crime;
– A moped fitted with false number plates.

A number of warrants are being executed this week as part of the latest operation to tackle knife crime.

Detective Superintendent Sean Yates, said: “We are committed to tackling knife crime to make the streets of London a safer place and these arrests and seizures reflect that.

“Operational activity like this is essential for not only pursuing and arresting criminals, but also for reassuring the public that we are clamping down on knife crime in the city.”
