An officer has been dismissed from the Met for travelling by train without a valid ticket.

Trainee DC Akash Thakrar attached to Met Training faced a misconduct hearing on Monday, 12 February for breaching the Met’s standards of professional behaviour in respect of, ‘honesty and integrity, ‘discreditable conduct’ and ‘duties and responsibilities’.

This followed allegations that on Wednesday, 7 June 2017, TDC Thakrar made two train journeys without the valid ticket to travel. When challenged about this he gave conflicting accounts to two senior police officers and the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards.

After hearing all the evidence the panel found the allegations as proven.

The officer was dismissed without notice.
